This months’ HR Forum will focus on Capability & Day One Rights and will take place remotely through Zoom on Wednesday 12th February at 11am.
Managing employee capability requires a delicate balance between legal compliance and effective performance management.
This session will unpack key issues such as day-one employment rights, addressing underperformance and supporting employees through sickness and absence.

- Understanding and applying “Day One” rights for new employees
- Strategies for identifying and managing underperformance early
- Handling long-term sickness and managing phased returns to work
- Legal considerations when addressing capability and dismissal processes

Kate Brooks is a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ by The Legal 500 and is a Partner at Ellis Jones. Kate specialises in Employment Law and HR Advice. Kate acts for many local businesses and her work includes: defending Employment Tribunal claims; negotiating termination deals; preparing/reviewing/amending employment documentation; advising on employment status; data protection; how to change terms and conditions of employment; restrictions after the end of employment; HR consultancy service; HR training, and preparing & negotiating settlement agreements.
