Previous working life:

Personality type: (From the ColourWorks / Insights model)
From The Colour Works (Insights) Personality Profile here is Terry's "Personal Style" introduction:
Terry is at home in the energetic administration of practical matters. His rather impersonal approach to life may leave little time, tolerance, or compassion for his own or others' feelings. He may in reality be less competent at a specific task than his confident style indicates. Terry
has high energy and is always striking out in a forward direction. He follows his impulses, moving strongly towards his goal. Terry is outgoing and direct, but as a participant, he can, if he is not careful, take control of the process.
He assumes that everyone else should share his desire for advancement and may be disappointed when others appear to lack his strength of character. Terry is hardworking, righteous, fiercely independent and convinced that moral good must win above all else. He is convinced that a successful life needs to be tough and that satisfaction must be earned and re-earned. Terry is seen as a natural leader with a hearty and frank style, who tends to take
charge of any situation in which he finds himself. Terry is an adaptable realist, relying on what he sees, hears and knows for himself. At work he often takes significantly more starts than finishes and he may need someone else to follow through with the details.
He often pushes others as hard as he pushes himself and tends to be a challenging adversary. Developing, fostering, improving and honing his skills is likely to be a life's work for him. Terry is seen by many people as being independent and self-contained. He may increase his effectiveness by allowing himself to seek and take assistance from others. Although he has a
tendency to undertake too much, somehow everything gets done in its own time.
Whenever he is asked to assume responsibility, his desire for control leads him to want to say “Yes”. He tends to be disinterested in subjects for which he sees no practical application. He likes structure and systematic processes. Both alert and outspoken, Terry can see the fatal flaw in a proposal or position but will often argue (and often enjoys arguing) on either side of an
issue from a position of “devils advocate”. He is adept at dealing with crisis situations and will readily take charge, organise and communicate to others a sense of calm, security and confidence.
He relates to, remembers and builds on positive experiences. He has a drive for tangible accomplishment and correctness with a leaning towards perfection. He expects his goals to be attained, and he wants to be recognised for his own accomplishments. Seen as a “natural” leader, he wants to have a significant impact on the lives of others and may resort to dictatorial practices if anything appears to get in the way. He prefers practical work that can be tackled step-by-step. He is likely to exhibit impatience with someone who is disorganised or inconsistent.
